What’s a Heat Pump?

Heat pumps work by taking the heat out of the air and moving it into your home. Technically a heat pump is any device that moves heat from one area to another using a small amount of energy. Your air conditioning unit works as a heat pump in reverse (most of the time), it removes heat out of the air in your home when it is warm.

The air outside your home is taken in by your AC unit and heated, then distributed throughout your home. In the warmer Texas climates this is enough to keep your home comfortable. In colder climates where it stays at, or below, freezing for long periods of time, furnaces are needed to keep a house warm. Unfortunately due to low usage, problems with your heat pump can go unnoticed until you need to warm your home.
